The annual Historical Symposium has become a hallmark event for the Orange Section. This year APA is partnering with Preserve OC (a local non-profit group focused on education and advocacy to promote conservation of the county’s historic resources). The event will include a presentation by Ken Bernstein who leads the City of Los Angeles Office of Historic Preservation and who has published a book this year entitled Preserving Los Angeles: How Historic Places Can Transform America’s Cities.
In the first 45 minutes, Ken will address the elements of a comprehensive historic preservation program and the intersection of historic preservation with current issues such as affordable housing and climate change. Ken’s presentation will be followed by a 45 min panel discussion, the audience will also be able to ask questions for the panel via chat.
