Surabhi Barbhaya,
AICP, LEED AP
Surabhi Barbhaya, AICP, LEED AP, has served on the American Planning Association (APA) Orange Section Board on and off for over six years as Vice Director of Communications/ Membership/Marketing, following a couple of years of involvement as a committee member. Her APA involvement builds on earlier service with the APA St. Louis Metro Section, where she was an active member-at-large, co-chaired the Awards Committee, and supported regional conference programming.
Surabhi is currently a Practice Builder at Kimley-Horn’s Orange office, leading the Long-Range Planning practice. She has more than 20 years of experience in urban planning with expertise in General Plan updates, Specific Plans, zoning and policy initiatives, objective design standards, and corridor planning. With a bachelor’s degree in architecture and a master’s degree in urban planning from the University of Cincinnati, she applies a design-driven, multidisciplinary approach that integrates land use, mobility, sustainability, and urban form to shape resilient and vibrant communities. Outside of planning, she enjoys exploring different forms of arts and crafts and draws inspiration from travel and reading across diverse genres.

Fun Facts.
Surabhi spent three years living and working in Singapore without owning a car, relying entirely on public transit, walking, and biking- truly living the planner’s dream.
