October Density Symposium - October 10, 2008

SDAPA Density Symposium: "Making Density Work"

Higher densities are an important tool for smart growth. But, as every planner knows, resident's fears of traffic gridlock, parking meltdown and destruction of community character can derail or compromise even modest plans and projects. Still, with high gas prices and changing attitudes towards urban living, the attractiveness of denser urban environments is on the rise.

Is density our destiny? How can planners harness density to improve transit, enhance livability and create better places?

Join us for a stimulating, full-day symposium as we explore the subject of density as it relates to a variety of urban issues, including city form, placemaking, development economics, transportation, design, infrastructure, gentrification and more (see below).
